Driscoll: Men and Marriage

My wife and I catch the preaching of Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Church from time to time and have benefited greatly from it over the last couple of years.  We followed them through the Song of Songs (immensely helpful and practical) recently as well as their Doctrine Series, and the Religion Saves Series.  We used to make this a routine part of our life, but it has fallen off as of late.

Over the past week, I started to see a lot of talk in the blogosphere regarding a recent sermon Driscoll preached from 1 Peter 3:7.  After hearing all of the hub-bub, Meg and I decided to check it out tonight.  Having now done so, I can firmly state that there was no better way for us to spend 73 minutes of our night than sitting together in bed watching Driscoll bring the heat to the men of the Church.  I’ve always found Driscoll to be at his best when calling out men to love God, love their wives, and lead their families and churches and this sermon pushed it up a notch: saying the unsaid and taking on the big elephant in the room we call the Church that no one really wants to talk about.

Men and women alike, I beseech you to set aside 73 minutes of your life and watch the sermon, Men and Marriage.  There aren’t too many better ways to spend your time.  If you feel the need, come back here and discuss via the comment thread.
