A recent study conducted by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reports that discrimination charges in 2007 were the highest in five years.
AAIM has a nice summary of the study which includes the following highlights (or should I say, lowlights):
- Race
Up 12% from previous year - Retaliation
Up 18%, a record high level - Sex/Gender
Up 7%, highest level in last five years - Age
Up 15%, largest annual increase in last five years - Disability
Up 14 %, highest level since 1998 - National Origin
Up 12%, over 9,000 charges, second time ever - Religion
Up 13%, a record high level
