Discrimination Grows In Popularity in 2007

A recent study conducted by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reports that discrimination charges in 2007 were the highest in five years.

AAIM has a nice summary of the study which includes the following highlights (or should I say, lowlights):

  • Race
    Up 12% from previous year
  • Retaliation
    Up 18%, a record high level
  • Sex/Gender
    Up 7%, highest level in last five years
  • Age
    Up 15%, largest annual increase in last five years
  • Disability
    Up 14 %, highest level since 1998
  • National Origin
    Up 12%, over 9,000 charges, second time ever
  • Religion
    Up 13%, a record high level
